A TikTok LIVE moderation checklist that protects the room.

Moderation is a shared responsibility. Set expectations before the stream, use the tools TikTok provides and keep the response calm, consistent and proportionate.

Before the room opens

  • Tell moderators the topic, audience and behaviour boundary for this session.
  • Agree which comments should be ignored, filtered, muted, blocked or reported.
  • Add only the keywords you actually need; review them after the session.
  • Make sure moderators understand that the host remains responsible for the LIVE.

During the LIVE

Redirect once

Answer a useful question or restate the room boundary without turning harassment into the main event.

Use the tool

Mute, block, filter, pin or report through TikTok's current controls rather than promising a private intervention.

Escalate early

Pause or end the stream when a threat, doxxing attempt or wellbeing concern makes continuing unsafe.

After a difficult session

Record only the information needed for a legitimate report, keep it private and note what action was taken. Do not circulate harmful screenshots through community chats.

  • Check the report or appeal path in TikTok's current interface.
  • Remove unnecessary copies of private material.
  • Give the host and moderators time to recover before reviewing performance.
