How to start a TikTok LIVE with a clear first minute.

TikTok controls LIVE access and the features available to each account. Use this guide to prepare a calm, useful session; use TikTok's current in-app prompts for the final eligibility check.

Confirm the account can go LIVE

TikTok's Help Centre says creators must be 18 or older to go LIVE and lists 1,000 followers as a general threshold that may vary by region. LIVE is not available everywhere, so check the account itself.

  • Confirm your age in the way TikTok requests before starting LIVE.
  • Open the + button, choose LIVE and read any current account-specific prompts.
  • Do not pay anyone or promise a result in exchange for unlocking LIVE access.

Give viewers a reason to stay

Write a plain title that says what is happening now, then prepare one welcome line for a first-time viewer. A simple promise is easier to deliver than a long list of topics.

Prepare the room, not just the camera
