Creator guide · rewards

Gifts, Diamonds and LIVE rewards are not the same thing.

Creators and viewers often use these words as if they describe one payment. TikTok's own Help Centre separates them: viewers use virtual Gifts, TikTok uses Diamonds to recognise creator popularity and contributions, and eligible accounts may receive rewards under the current Virtual Items and LIVE policies.

The three terms in plain language

Gifts

A viewer can use virtual Gifts to react to or support content during a LIVE when that feature is available. Gifts are governed by TikTok's virtual-items rules and age requirements.

Diamonds

TikTok describes Diamonds as virtual items connected to creator popularity, ranking and platform contributions. Eligible creators can check their balance through the app's LIVE rewards area.

Rewards

Rewards are the possible digital goods or services TikTok may make available to eligible creators. The account, market, standing and current policy matter.

What this means for a LIVE plan

A creator should plan the session around a useful show and a safe community, not around a guaranteed gift total. Kind Creators can teach the vocabulary and the checks; TikTok controls the feature, eligibility and reward information shown to each account.

  • Open TikTok Studio or Balance and read the current account-specific reward information.
  • Check whether Gifts and Diamonds are available in the creator's country and account type.
  • Keep a simple record of the date and wording of any mission or reward screen you rely on.
  • Never pressure viewers to spend money or present a gift target as a guaranteed result.

A safer way to discuss money

Use the official source and a date whenever you explain monetisation. Avoid copying a third-party percentage, calculator or screenshot into a promise. If a creator has a tax, payment or withdrawal question, they should use TikTok's current account guidance and qualified local advice where needed.
